The Play Plan was adopted by Worcester City Council in July 2023 and has already been used to initiate new play-on-the-way projects and recruitment of a dedicated council officer to support delivery of the Plan proposals.

The Raising the Nation Play Commission, a year-long independent inquiry into why play is critical to the wellbeing of children published its final report, “Everything to Play For: A Plan to Ensure Every Child in England Can Play” on Wednesday 11th June 2025.

In 2025 Play England published their 1- year strategy "It all starts with play!"

The strategy is a practical and ambitious roadmap to restore a play-based childhood for all children by 2035.

 The children, young people and the built environment briefing sets out the challenges facing children and young people in accessing formal and informal play spaces. It highlights the opportunities offered through the built environment by focusing on a child-centred place-based approach to design and development. The briefing highlights the wider benefits this brings for health, well-being and the realisation of vibrant, sustainable communities.
