Kate Collier is a self-confessed 'agitator'. With a passion for getting things done and building community, she set up Worcester's first 'bike bus' with her husband in 2022 and has spent a lot of time advocating for active travel since then.
In 2023, Kate was elected to Worcester City Council representing Leopard Hill ward.
In 2022, she completed her MA Education at The University of Worcester with a research focus on what playtime means to KS2 children.
In her spare time, Kate enjoys spending time with her family; reading; baking and being in the garden.

When my children were small, I became very preoccupied with the quality of play spaces in the city and how poor provision often was. I went in search of who the other people were advocating for children's right to play and found Worcester Play Council! (Now Play Worcester)
I had a very happy childhood with 3 brothers and lots of opportunities for playing out. We would go off on our bikes, or up the road to call on our friends and would spend our time making our own fun. We lived on an estate with new houses being built so we often snuck into building sites to play too.
We need to make sure our city is a person focused place to live, work and play. Are there enough places for people to sit? Is there enough shade? Are there trees, plants, nature? All of these things would make our city a good and playful place for children too.
Also a sandpit. It's ridiculous that there is no sandpit in Worcester!
