Niki became a member of Play Worcester (formerly Worcester Play Council) in 2021 and was elected Chair in 2024. A trained primary school teacher by profession, Niki has also worked as a pre-school manager and most recently as a senior lecturer and course leader at the University of Worcester. Niki has conducted considerable research with marginalised groups, and authored books, chapters and journal articles to raise awareness of these vulnerable people’s lives. Niki strives to enable the voices of children to be heard, particularly on their right to play and flourish, and contribute to making Worcester a vibrant and playful city.
In her spare time Niki likes to read, play the piano and keep fit and active by visiting the gym. She is married with three children, three grandchildren and lives in Worcester.
I enjoy working with fabulous, dedicated people who want to make Worcester a fantastic place for children and families to live and play
I loved playing outside with my friends, riding round my neighbourhood on my bike and having adventures every day
So much! I'd like to make the most of our landscape and heritage and incorporate these into opportunities for play and playfulness in a way that lifts people's spirits and makes them smile. More specifically, I would like to see an adventure playground, sandpit(s) and more water play.
