Meet the trustees

Michelle Buckland

Michelle Buckland brings over 30 years of experience dedicated to children’s development and play. She holds an NNEB Diploma, the Gold Seal Montessori Certificate (Nursery Foundation Teaching Course), and an NVQ Assessor qualification. Throughout her career, Michelle has worked as a nanny, in Montessori settings, and in Children Centres and Family Hubs, combining hands-on practice with assessment and family support. She is married, with two children and a lively cocker spaniel puppy. When she isn’t working, Michelle enjoys reading, walking the dog, visiting National Trust properties, practising Reiki, and re-learning to play the piano.

Michelle and Play Worcester

Why are you involved with Play Worcester?

What are your favourite play memories from childhood?

What are your favourite play memories from childhood?

I became involved with Play Worcester because it dovetails perfectly with the work I do with Action for Children and with my passion for providing opportunities for children to play, which is essential for their wellbeing, growth and happiness.

What are your favourite play memories from childhood?

My favourite childhood memories are of — building dens, making mud pies, playing rounders, and sailing down a small stream in a tin bath with cricket stumps. Those experiences of freedom, creativity and adventure shaped my love for play and the outdoors.

What would you do to make Worcester more playful?

What would you do to make Worcester more playful?

One of my passions is to see regular play streets rolled out across Worcester, bringing children and older generations together to play, have fun and be creative. I want children to have the chance to play outside, laugh, be inventive and feel accepted.

I would also love to see more exciting and welcoming spaces for teenagers to spend time together both in the city and in their local communities.
